| It's been so long since I've posted anything. The past month has been busy and quite interesting actually. Lots of things have
been happening at work, church and during my free time which seems to
be slowly disappearing.
Here are the cliff notes as I'm too lazy! :P
- Started riding my bike to work
- Played bass for the First Alliance worship team for the first time.
- Started playing Wednesday night baseball for a team affiliated with First Alliance
- Joined a CCSA team. Albeit a new team. Coming out of CCSA retirement for a 2nd time.
- Parents took off to California to take a cruise to Alaska.
- Bought a Pentax K10D DSLR
- Building a CarPC that can double as a HTPC. Just need the touch screen.
That's all that I can think of for now. Also started a blogspot but haven't decided which I want to attempt to make regular. :D

| Last night, a bunch of guys from work played some shinny at U of T's Varsity Arena. I can't believe it's been over 10 years since I've laced up the skates (new ones as the olds ones didn't fit) and gone on the ice with a stick. I haven't even skated in the last 4 years with the exception or roller blading which in my opinion is similar but significantly different in that you can do a lot more and have better control on ice.
On the ride over, I was wondering how well I'd do considering the length of time since I've last played. I have a thing about skating and only allow myself to fall or be tripped a certain amount of times. Yeah, it's anal and cocky but it something I've done and it works. There was a couple of years while teaching that I didn't fall once whether it was skating with the kids from school or while with friends from church. So I told myself 2 falls would be acceptable but zero would still be my goal. And the record stands at zero falls. :) It felt good out there. My shot was a little off but everything was like riding a bike. You don't forget or lose it all! Instead of blasting shots from the blue line, I just did what I use to love to do. Stand beside the net, take a shot, and when that didn't work stuff it into the net.
One of the guys from work, Nick, ( Nicolis Ridiculous is his nickname) has been talking smack about being a superstar ice hockey player. Since we've known about the game for a couple of months, he's been talking up a storm about how good he is and how much he plays. Well, as soon as he hit the ice, I knew exactly how good he is. He's an okay skater considering he's only been ice skating for 5-6 months but does a lot of inline skating. His hockey skills are about what we expected. Nothing to write home about. LOL. All week he told me to pass him the puck and he'll score. Well, on 3 different occasions instead of utilizing my break away, I turned and fed him the puck. On all 3 of those situations he couldn't handle it. Couldn't even keep up.
I can't wait to play some more. I know of people looking for players but I have yet to buy all the equipment I need. Will probably collect everything over the summer and start next winter.
Plans for the summer. Work has a softball league that I'm playing on. I've been asked to help out a team with my current church. Trying to get back on a CCSA softball team with with my old church or another church in the league. This will be the second time I come out of retirement with the CCSA. Back to the good old days. Hopefully this helps me get back in shape. I have a gym membership with work, but it's not going to well. Been with it since January but haven't really gone to be worth while.
Also hope to update this site more. Just recently registered a blog spot but undecided which is more to my liking.

| I don't know the last time that I actually celebrated Chinese New Year. All through school I was never allowed to take any time off since it has never been a holiday that was recognized by the public school system in my area. I guess that's what I get for growing up in a predominantly Greek neighborhood. I always felt like I got shafted there are so many holidays that the Greek kids were allowed to skip school.
Anyway, I won't rant any more since I'm not longer in school. With this new job, I can take some time off since I've now banked a couple days worth of lieu time.
Work has been great. The past week and a half have been interesting since I was covering for someone on vacation. I was sent to a different department to receive for the computer shop and all general merchandise (clothing, gifts and stationary) for the bookstore.
The ironic thing is that the guy I'm covering for rarely gets much work done and leaves his area in a huge mess. Deliveries left everywhere and things half done. I don't know what he does but I managed to get everything done daily and kept the place spic! I know my boss noticed it and was pretty impressed.
I don't know if I will get that job full time but as the new guy being able to jump into a new/different position, I know I made an impression. Questions will be raised as my boss is confused why the guy can't keep up when he's been at the job for over 20 years.
I hope I get to stay up there as there are lots of benefits that I like. I can work independently and pretty much at my own pace as long as everything gets done. I also get to see sunlight as there are quite a few windows on the west wall. The biggest bonus is that it's a lot quieter. No obnoxious music like Aqua. Don't ask! One of the guys apparently likes it as well as Ben Harper, Johnny Cash and a few others that drive me nuts.
So how are you doing?

| What a week! I've been off for the holidays but had to work Thursday. If it wasn't for the computer department, claiming that her sales were down and arrogantly felt that they'd make it up by being open, I would have had 10 straight days off. :( We didn't do any work so we all got paid to sit around doing nothing.
Friday, I went over to a friends place to help finish off his basement reno. Looks good considering that they had a broken water main, on Christmas eve, and almost damaged all our work over the past many months. It had dried up well and there was only minimal damage and we fixed it all. Spent 6+ hours laying hardwood and am now sore from my calves to my triceps. Thank God for Tylenol with Codine! :D
Saturday did some running around pickup supplies for Howie's annual New Years pot luck party that I can finally make it to again in 4-5 years.
Sunday was a great day. Made my famous Creme BruleƩ, after church, that everyone loved. Let me tell you something, making 14 over how many I use to make at the banquet hall is a piece of cake! The last time I made them was for 2500 people just over a year ago. Kinda nuts isn't it. Very glad I got out of the hospitality industry. The party was great. It was small and cozy but it's been a while since I've seen some of them so it was good to meet up and catch up as well as meeting a few new people.

| Going to be a low key easy Christmas this year. Spending it a Nancy and Euge's place with the kids. This will be the first Christmas in 5 years that I haven't had to be working. What a blessing! I do have to go in to work on the 28th, but it's pretty much a write off as we've already decided not to do any work.
Went to CPC for Christmas eve dinner and service yesterday. Expected to see a lot of old friends and faces but a lot of them are not around anymore. Although the majority of the people there know me, it's been so long since I've regularly attended that church that I felt left out. Must be over 10 years now since I left CPC to serve at the sister church CPC North. It has now been a good 5 years at First Alliance Church but most of it has been off and on due to work.
I think finding the job at U of T has been a real blessing. Trying to get my life back and getting back in touch with friends whom I have lost touch with has been tough. So much time has past that it's almost awkward. But, it's now time to find and settle into a realy good fellowship/small group as I have no excuse or reason not to. It was so hard the last five years to really commit to anything with work and all.
This is the time. This is my time to pick up where I left off and focus on my walk with God. No more excuses and no more distractions from something that I dearly miss. One struggle that I am having is whether to stay at First Alliance or to go search out something new. I'm really on the fence cause I still sort of feel like a stranger there but no as much as CPC. Wondering if starting off fresh will be more helpful or not. I want to start serving primarily with worship but there are some issues that I have at FAC with their worship teams. Most of the time it's an awesome time but occasionally, there are things that distract me and prevent me from getting into worship. I have got to work it out before I move on.
